Grace Notes - March 1, 2020
“Nothing in life is to be feared; it is only to be understood.
Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.”
As we begin our 6 Part Lenten Sermon Series this week, we begin with one of the big fears:
March 1: Don’t Pass Me By: The fear of missing out
Have you ever gotten yourself into “deep water” because you succumbed to the temptation of the tasty apple in the Garden of Eden? Sometimes it is the breach of a relationship. Sometimes it’s leaving a job for the one that looked shinier – but it’s really a little questionable. Sometimes it’s buying the thing you don’t need. Sometimes it’s a bigger slice or a drink with lots of spice. Whatever the details, the underlying fear is the same:
What if I MISS OUT?!?
Just like with Adam and Eve, the repercussions often bring us crashing down with regret. What would it be like if your life wasn’t influenced by the fear of missing out?
Blessings on the journey,
"Seize the day! Embrace the present! Plan for the future! At all times, remain in God's presence, seek to follow Christ, and yearn for the direction of the Holy Spirit who will guide your steps all along the way."
