At our September Missions meeting, we talked about the devastating impact from Hurricane Laura in Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi. The MTMUMC Missions Committee agreed to support the relief efforts with a $300 donation to a designated fund of the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) that was earmarked for US disasters including Hurricane Laura. As a follow up, one of our committee members, Leigh Bak suggested sending an email to the MTMUMC community for individual donations to this advance. Another $1,235 was received! This is a true blessing, especially since Hurricane Delta hit many of the same neighborhoods and communities only six weeks later! For more information about recovery efforts, please see the article attached below. https://www.umnews.org/en/news/amazing-grace-comes-in-many-ways-for-storm-survivors

Please see the link for giving to this fund right here: https://advance.umcor.org/p-620-umcor-us-disaster-response-and-recovery.aspx and be sure to select Mary Taylor Memorial UMC as the designated church! Please continue to hold our brothers and sisters impacted by these hurricanes in your prayers. May God give them endurance and hope and strength and faith. Amen.

As the pandemic began to take shape earlier this year, Mary Taylor Memorial UMC acted quickly to support strangers in need with the creation of The Samaritan Fund, which assists other United Methodist Churches in our conference that are financially insecure due to circumstances related to COVID-19. Thanks to the heartwarming generosity of our MTMUMC community who faithfully supports the church with regular offerings, we have funded just over $20,000 across five different churches in the Connecticut and Catskill Hudson Districts of the New York Annual Conference as follows: First UMC Torrington (CT), New Milford (CT) UMC, Summerfield UMC (Bridgeport, CT,) Ulster Heights (Ellenville, NY) and St. Marks UMC (Napanoch, NY). Please see links below for some of the outreach taking place in these communities. God bless the work being done all around our conference!

MTMUMC participated in a (socially distanced) mission camp for the week of July 27th (one of our hottest weeks on record!). Seventeen volunteers split into small work teams at eleven different sites in the greater Milford area to do gardening, cleaning, debris removal and other outdoor projects for our church community members who needed help.

Our theme for the week was "All In", which explored the conscious decision to dedicate ourselves fully to follow the sacrificial Christ, and what that means in our own lives today. Thank you for your prayers and other support throughout the week, and I hope you enjoy these sample photos!
