MARY TAYLOR MEMORIAL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
Children are important
to all of us at Mary
Taylor Memorial UMC!
Our education program strives
to bring students into a closer
relationship with God and
Jesus Christ, and their church
community, within a relaxed
classroom environment. Our
programs are welcoming to all
family situations, including
students with special needs.
Our education program runs
Sunday mornings from
9 A.M. til 9:45 A.M. from
September through June. We
have classes for all ages,
including Infant/Toddlers and
children through High School.
Classroom teaching is based
on resources from a Christian
publisher, Cokesbury
(www.Cokesbury.com).
A sample of our curriculum
can be found at
(www.ExploringFaith.com).
We are also continuing
curriculum from Live Big
(www.ilivebig.com) for children
in grades 2 and up.

SAFE SANCTUARIES POLICY
Jesus said, "Whoever welcomes [a] child...
welcomes me" (Matthew 18:5). Children are our
present and our future, our hope, our teachers,
our inspiration. They are full participants in the
life of the church and in the realm of God.
Mary Taylor Memorial UMC, along with all United
Methodist congregations, has adopted a policy
for the prevention of child abuse in the church.
Our purpose in adopting a Child Abuse
Prevention Policy is to demonstrate our absolute
and unwavering commitment to the physical
safety and spiritual growth of all of our children
and youth. As a Christian community of faith and
a United Methodist congregation, we resolve to
fulfill this promise.

SUNDAY SCHOOL MISSION PROJECT! Pennies for Peace
This year our Sunday School’s Mission Project is Pennies for Peace – Founded by Greg Mortenson – Author of Three Cups of Tea. This project was created to: #1 help children in Pakistan and Afghanistan to have access to education where it never existed before; and #2 broaden and enrich education where it existed in the developed world so that students have the opportunity to become more educated global citizens. While a penny is virtually worthless, in impoverished countries a penny buys a pencil and opens the door to literacy. This focuses on community based education, especially for girls. Research reveals that a 5th grade education for a girl improves not only the health for her and her family – but also helps her spread the value of education within her community. Since 1993 this program has established 130 schools for over 51, 000 young boys and girls. Please contribute your pennies to a Pennies for Peace Can in church or bring to Sunday School or with a Sunday School student near you!! Thank you.
