Center Library (across from Office).

MTMUMC can now rejoice in another step In becoming fully
accessible for all people!  Through the efforts of the Board of
Trustees, and with a large portion of the cost coming from a
bequest from a late church member, all people can truly “rest
themselves” in comfort.  There are two gender-neutral
bathrooms, each with a stool, sink, handrails, call button, and
wide entrance door.  Each bathroom locks at the door, instead
of in a stall.  We thank all members for their patience during
the construction phase, as the back entrance to Dodd Hall was
closed off, and people needed to cross over to Wesley Hall for
bathroom needs.  We are now a church that practices
    generous hospitality.

SHROVE (Fat Tuesday) PANCAKE SUPPER
Tuesday, February 21v 6:00 PM—Dodd Hall
Pancakes Deliciously Prepared by our Men’s Club!  Please join us!

Did you know?  For centuries people in many countries have held a celebration known as Carnival between
Epiphany and Ash Wednesday.  It is a time for feasting and merrymaking before the somber austerity and fasting of
Lent.  For countries in the Northern Hemisphere, it is the coldest and darkest time of the year, and celebrations
may   include fireworks and other lights.  Meat and meat products may be eaten freely, hence the name Carnival,
derived from the Latin word for meat.  The day before Ash Wednesday is sometimes called “Mardi Gras”, French
for “Fat Tuesday”.  Shrove Tuesday pancakes are associated with that day because Christians were forbidden to
eat “fat” during Lent.  Therefore, in order to use up all the lard in the house—pancakes were   traditionally made
on the night before Ash Wednesday.  The term “shrove” is taken from the word “Shriven” - meaning “given
absolution of one’s sins during Lent.”
